How do I prepare for Anthropology Optional for Civil Services?
To
prepare for an optional subject in civil service exams is neither too easy nor
it is impossible. All you need is the right mentor and a list of study
materials that can guide you along with the preparation.
Let
me congratulate you first for choosing anthropology as your UPSC optional
subject. But, there's a lot more to it.
First Note of Help
I
started talking to my seniors to get their personal advice. And, most of them
asked me to choose anthropology as optional. Should I join any coaching or
mentor, was my next question to them? They simply laughed. I guess because it
was a very obvious one to ask for.
But
they calmly told me to go ahead with Pradip Sir of Sapiens IAS. Now I understood the secret of their success. It was
the extra marks that an easy optional can give if studied properly.
A
year later, I got the value of a senior who can give you a useful tip that
changed my life. So, here are my tips and tricks to crack your IAS exams this
year.
● Check out the syllabus.
● Split them into
sections of your choice.
● Use Sapiens notes along
with internet contents.
● Understand the concepts
well.
● Look for inter-related
topics.
● Study it for at least
12 hours a week.
● Make short notes and
flowcharts.
● Practice Answer writing
to build expertise.
● Use sub-headings in
your answer.
● Include case studies in
your answer to make it valuable.
● Practice
time-management before appearing for exams.
● Solve last year's
question papers.
Download
online questions and keep a regular practice of answering them. Always ask for
feedback from your mentor to test your preparation skills. These tips can make
your IAS preparation a lot easier.
Don't
forget to share your experiences here!! It will help junior students prepare
better for their next year.
